   My first boss in tech publishing loved talking about Dave the Hard Drive King. For years, I’ve been looking for him and wondering whether he actually existed at all. While looking for something else, I just stumbled across him.

   ($499 for a 104MB hard drive!)

     @harrymccracken I paid over $600 for an Apple floppy drive and controller card.

     One time I had some Connor 80MB drives I got for cheap in the Bay Area and was flying to Los Angeles where I was giving them to some friends. They were all separate, just the drives and nothing else. Airport security asked me to turn them on. I had to explain what a hard drive was. Good times.
