1. We're backing orange roughy for Fish of the Year. Right now I'm on the Lord Howe rise out in the international waters of the South Pacific. We are 1000 m above a key orange roughy habitat which we spent the day exploring with deep sea cameras. We didn't find very many orange roughy, and that's not surprising. Assessment after assessment show that orange roughy numbers are in decline, and New Zealand is the last country to operate a bottom trawling fleet out here in the South Pacific fishing for orange roughy. It's time they were better protected, and that's why we are voting for orange roughy, Fish of the Year. Visuals show oceans campaigner Ellie Hooper on board the expedition vessel in the Pacific Ocean, intercut with footage of the dropcam being lowered to the depths of the sea and images of orange roughy fish in the bottom of the deep ocean.
