Heard about a ham radio operator who fell while holding an electric chainsaw and put his hand on it while pressing the button. Apparently accident prone. (survived and recovering, but...)
Note to self: if you are accident prone, do not use chainsaws or sharp objects.

When I worked in the steel mill back in the 70s, the saying was that every safty rule was written in someone's blood. Try not to make it yours.

Properly designed chainsaws have several safety features to prevent injury. Use both handles all the time, every time. That will put your left hand behind the chain brake guard so when something happens, the chain brake has a chance to do its job. Wear your saw chaps every time. Period. If you think you "need" to do something that requires you to violate these safety rules, stop.
