When you compare longitudes it's surprising how tropical the USA is. People don't appreciate it in theory because they look level on the mercator, but when you see it everything makes sense: Why we have air conditioning as standard, why so much of the southwest is still so empty, why we don't know euro geography....it's a big country with a good climate variety
