@LoliHat @Meemoo Nah, it's because English and French have both been standardized to much higher degrees than German and Italian. This shows in other, more minor languages that have been standardized in recent times, like Basque and native languages in the Americas. Lack of phoneticism is a symptom of higher linguistic development among the speakers. -
