   every time i feel guilty about buying a $50 half dead retrocomputer, i remind myself that i've got friends and family that think nothing of spending $10k on a new V8 engine block for their 1950s truck restoration. 😅

     @vga256 me anytime I buy an old laptop off eBay that's listed as untested/for parts. Thankfully every one so far has either worked completely fine with minor cosmetic damage, or immaculate condition cosmetically but a faulty battery or disk/disc drive

     @vga256 I also rescue laptops occasionally with a friend at a recycle center whenever we meet up. Just like how car folks go out to the recycling center for spare parts, I go out for rare retro computer parts and laptops to restore
