We're still thinking about this all wrong, and it's making all the cool stuff we want to do more difficult. The fedi is not about communities. It's the public square. Communities control their membership. A fedi server is almost never a closed place, but a portal to the entire open social internet that also grants you assistance with moderation. Until we accept something like #matrix as the way to do groups with decentralized ID, we're gonna keep making this mistake. #FediverseHouse #SocialWeb
