I've been interested in the usability and user experience design for years, as a hobby. I've been reading a lot of books, and following publications on the topic. I find it very significant that the more actual strict scientific research we have accumulated on the subject, with rigorous experiments, large samples, and fancy tech like eye tracking or even fMRI, more we understand how human perception works and how to design for it, the worse the actual usability of websites and apps becomes.
