"the 2024 U.S. election was a trolley problem" <- yes, absolutely
"flipping the switch could only change who would be crushed" <- no, absolutely not
The fundamental idea of the trolley problem is that flipping the switch HARMS FEWER PEOPLE.
Most people when confronted with the problem agree that's the right thing to do.
Harris would have harmed far fewer people.
It's incredible that even now some people still struggle with this concept.

  @Lylamehta@mas.to I don't think it makes sense to be ashamed of failure when you are confronted with a trolley problem, and that's what the 2024 election was. Many Americans are (and have been) doing our best to install brakes in the trolley. Our failure, perhaps, was to be too obsessed with which way to flip the switch when flipping the switch could only change who would be crushed. Putting brakes on the trolley is an act of hope.
