@max most applications can't, and that's a good thing: why would I want applications to reimplement functionality that is already implemented in my window manager. it goes against unix philosophy.
my gf has also disabled tabs in firefox and uses window manager tabs instead. i should look into that some time

@lizzy @max i already tried to rewrite the whole dwm in c++ just to piss them off and yeah, seeing their code - it’s definitely not “suckless”, it sucks quite a lot. Also “st” terminal has the worst performance of all I’ve tried I think.
But the usability of the whole stack isn’t that bad

@lizzy @max there’s a whole browser called “surf”, its philosophy is to display only one tab and rely on wm to do everything else, but I bet you already know about it :3 and it pairs good with a tabbing utility for x11 by the same community. Too bad the community for it is full of disgusting people, so if someone needs help - they’re on their own
