   There's a kind of plot that Star Trek TOS does that other Star Trek shows rarely does, or at least not in as funny a way: the Enterprise crew has to deal with a planet that does something spectacularly stupid. There's that virtual war / real death one, but the funniest is when the Enterprise has to deal with the planet of bad Italian-American mafia clichés.
