     I always loved this weird menu organization. Most of the installed software is under Programs, except for one, which is under Applications. And that's just Netscape.

     sticking "alias eth0 tulip" int /etc/conf.modules (which I had to create) works.

     Still no DNS, but I have connectivity, I can ping the outside world

     I can't remember how to tell this system that it needs to modprobe tulip before trying to use the network. I probably need to put this in an init.d file or rcX.d file

     this is linux 2.0. neither of those exist yet

     yeah I don't think I really have a network here. I tried manually looking up a DNS record using my local DNS server, and I get nothing.
