@eskuero@mstdn.io The fact that every tool displays tabs different is the reason why you should use spaces, to ensure your file displays the same in everyone's editor?

@SuperDicq Only monsters use spaces, you must use tabs so they are configurable by the editing tool respecting everyone's freedom to make each indent level half of the screen

@eskuero@mstdn.io Yes, but the only correct configuration is 4 and if you set it to something else it will not display correctly. So it's better to just use 4 spaces to ensure it always shows as 4 spaces.

@SuperDicq tools usually allow you to configure the display length of a tab
