     Its written for a particular, narrow demographic. It would take too long here to explain.

     I've had this particular friend, rural south carolina guy, we've been friends for over 30 years. He's what we used to call conservative..

     Hes been basically kind and not an asshole all this time. Ivisited him on my 2018 tour of the southeast in my roadster (for a car event; i wanted to experience wtf was going on... another tl;dr here, some time over coffee...)

     Anyway i felt need to more or less confront him on current affairs, not red vs blue bullshit, .... what do you think about the destruction (musk, unelected) etc. Hard questtions but zero buzzwords.

     Well I got what I asked for. The worst shit excuse making, transparent propaganda, all parrotted fox news doublespeak. As I feared etc.

     No Im not surprised, just disappointed at the depth of disappointment.

     Anyway its the final straw for me.

     FIFTY CONSCIOUS (OK maybe semi-) YEARS I've wrenched rambler cars. Done now.

     Even this, its been a longer exit than that, 10 years maybe. But I was clinging onto a tiny, shrinking number of non-assholes.

     The car world is not an easy place to be queer. Its fairly impossible now.
