How did Rep. Eric Gallager ever get elected? Bill HB649 is overwhelmingly favored by the people of New Hampshire. It would end mandatory inspections. These are nothing other than a money grab by mechanics and there is an entire lobby organization that hinders these bills when they come about from passing.
Ohh, he's probably getting paid off. Now I understand how he got elected and why he is against this bill.
He's making up some nonsense about vehicple inspections being connected to safety which is nonsense and the vehicular security aspect while likely correct in thinking you can't have a conversation about security without source code being available doesn't lead logically to inspections being neccessary or your mechanic looking at the source code. That isn't fundamentally how this works. Your sources should be released, the world can examine the code for security issues, those issues get reported, they get patched, they get fixed, and then a binary becomes available (firmware) that at most a mechanic can apply. The availability of security patched firmwares is important, the mandatory inspection are utterly dumb and a money grab. I nor anyone else should be forced to pay $40 for an inspection when I can do an inspection myself, or a friend, or ANY MECHANIC on my own volition. The evidence is clear, vehicle inspections don't make us any safer, and many states have done away with them or reduced how often they're required.
