   Re conferences people should probably just do virtual ones if possible. If it’s not safe for others to enter the U.S. it’s also not safe for many people to leave it.

     Many immigrants I know are not leaving right now as far as possible.

     A Singaporean friend who went home for a routine visa stamping had his visa categorically and arbitrarily denied (this rarely happens to us) and he can’t return. The degree of fuckery is high all around

     @skinnylatte sounds like a very US centric view, there are many other countries and citizens that can travel around freely.

     The choice shouldn’t be virtual or not based on what the US is up to.

     That said if you’re from another ‘first world’ country even the ‘nice’ ones and you believe that it’s safe for brown and black people at your country’s borders, you also have no idea and I would highly encourage you to look into it

     @skinnylatte I am telling immigrant parents NOT to take their unvaccinated kids out of the country. ONE non-vaccinated infant who lives in the Seattle area contracted measles while overseas in what circumstantial evidence suggests was South or Southeast Asia -- and I'm virtually certain that this regime will ignore that 150 white Christian kids with measles in Texas, and focus on the one immigrant kid with measles in Seattle to keep ALL IMMIGRANTS out of at least subject them to quarantine. It's just not safe to take non-white kids out of the country -- and it's always unwise to take unvaccinated infants -- until we know what the penalties are.
