Mozilla's new direction of Firefox is scary. They seem to forget that the core audience is using Firefox for privacy and security and not for AI features. It is so stupid that they are following big tech. It is time to fork out FF and sponsor the development using donations. No AI or anything else was added to the FF.
meanwhile after Google, Microsoft also begins turning off uBlock Origin and other extensions in Edge. https://www.neowin.net/news/microsoft-begins-turning-off-ublock-origin-and-other-extensions-in-edge/ This is some serious coordinated stuff going on by big tech. It sounds like a conspiracy theory, but now the big picture is here. The only other major player is Firefox, and it is doing everything it can to ruin its reputation.
it has been soft-forked numerous times; yes, the maintainers of the forks could probably use more $upport and visibility to their projects. it probably still makes sense to be downstream from Mozilla to remove the anti-features while building on the solid foundation they have built in the good ol' days, and that they will likely maintain in the foreseeable future, in order to funnel users into their dis-services. if it ever becomes too cumbersome to remove the anti-features, then it will be time for a hard fork.
