@ity i installed it, but I use too much software for it to be viable for me, so NixOS is my home. -

Ah, idk why that'd be a hassle on Gentoo any more than any other distro but fair ig
I cry at the memory of fucking with Davinci on NixOS tho

@ity i really, don't want to use flatpak. And yeah, I only use laptops. I'm not gonna waste time compiling everything. -

@mischievoustomato Frankly I'd get most of the apps from Flatpak
You'd have to configure it anyway on other distros (esp. NixOS, that's even more config work than Gentoo)
Do you have a weak computer?

@mischievoustomato If you don't wanna use Flatpak why do you use Bottles /hj
Fair tho, if you don't wanna compile everything Gentoo might not be good, idk how good their binary caches are
Personally I switched cuz Portage annoyed me with how it was unable to list out the USE and ENV config changes at once

@mischievoustomato Bottles has started a war with packagers, trying to explicitly make it as difficult to package as possible
Including adding code to detect flatpak and if flatpak is not detected to bail out and exit
I shall refrain from commenting about this because one of my friends is a Bottles dev and she was part of the decision (iirc?) because the mispackaging of various distros was causing huge spam waves on the issue tracker which was draining her energy
(as I understood it)

@ity yeah, at the same time, theevilskeleton said that nix/nixpkgs packaging was fine, and... it's patched out anyway.
If I couldn't run it, I'd go bck to using my aliases to run games, haha -
