   Nonstop atrocities: The SSA will ANN an across-the-board cut of 50% of staff. The decision was purportedly announced at a meeting Tues by Acting COMR Dudek. David Dayen appears to have found 2 ppl who were in the meeting & do confirm it. David’s report.

   "It’s been hard to imagine that they were actually contemplating this, not bc it’s horrible but bc it’s likely to have such dramatic (& likely pol costly) impacts on 10s of Ms of Americans."

     70 million people depend upon the SSA system.

     Totally financed by payroll taxes. SS Trust Fund NOT part of Federal budget.

     58,000 employees in over 1,000 offices to serve people. (They also deal with medicare matters as well as SS.) Issue over trillion dollars of payments per year to retirees.... and some disability people.

     *CALL and write you congressional representatives. to express opinion they protect SS programs!!........
