     @MK2boogaloo if you want to make some basic edits to a picture, you don't, just install kolourpaint
     
     otherwise maybe have a look around the interface and get used to it, if you're familiar with paint.net and the like it'll feel kind of familiar

     @s8n @MK2boogaloo like no new user is gonna know to head into the paint tool and *also* select the brush that goes as hard as possible in order to draw normally on the picture. It's just not that obvious at first glance

     @sysrq @s8n @MK2boogaloo it obviously isn't impossible but it also happens to be the dumbest way possible to make a circle, make a new layer select what you want and then fill in the selection with the bucket. Why isn't there a circle tool directly built in

     this user, every single time they encounter a roadblock in a video game, they search for a youtube video by a soyfaced retard who tells them exactly how to play the game, exactly what to do, exactly where to go, exactly what buttons to press in the exact order to accomplish whatever they are doing. They go so hard at this these people will verbally abuse you for not doing that. If you don't google the soyfaced retard and play the game the way he tells you to, you're not "following the meta"
     
     this user, when presented with a Gimp interface, will stare at it blankly and explicitly never search for a youtube video to tell him how to do whatever it is that he wants to do. He'll just sit there drooling for 5 or 10 minutes searching for a tool that doesn't exist because he wants it to have the same interface as MS Paint. He will never even THINK to search for any information on this problem

     since making selections requires a wide range of shape creating tools and they're already coded in, it'd be silly to duplicate the functionality for *drawing* every shape user may want instead of just having them compose more generally useful features
