   The fediverse is not a lending institution. I've tired of the 0 follower accounts begging for money with a handy paypal link as their first post. Or worse - DMs! If it was an isolated incident, I'd feel sympathy. It's not. It's a flood of unknown people (or bot farmers) hustling us.

   "I can't afford my insulin and so I just need your money." - I'm not your doctor, pharmacist, or banker.

   "I'm from Gaza and I just need your money to get out." - I'm guessing you're probably not from Gaza any more than that nice Nigerian prince was from Nigeria. Imagine my surprise. Indianapolis is in Nigeria.

   "My baby needs Pampers!" - Maybe use a little less meth. Oops. Sorry. That was a hustler in Los Angeles.

   "You look like a man who takes care of his beard!" - I don't need or want that beard grooming kit you swiped. Oops. Also LA.

     @steter I can't say I adopt all of what you say but I share your concern generally. While some of these pleas may be genuine, and of those some may be worthwhile, I am sure many are not. Trying to sort out which are real is tricky. I am not comfortable with the result which is that I ignore them all.
