     I haven't shared much lately about my mom, it's been difficult to write.

     I am assisting the staff in changing her diapers. It's hard to accept.

     I cut her food for her today.

     She tries to play checkers with my youngest son, but she's forgetting the moves.

     This is hard, and we are getting through as best as we can. My son's IQ is about 67; judging by that, I can see my mom's mind is really going.

     I try to explain dementia to him, but it's not easy.

     I don't let him-or my mom-see me cry.
