   The obvious answer to that is to start jailing them and making them fear the public's power to hold them to account. Because we do have that power, still. They cannot actually do *any* of it without our compliance.

   Not easy, but those are the stakes: you only keep the democracy you demand.

     One way to understand what's happening in America is these people(Trump/Musk/Rs)committing all these obvious crimes/power grabs do not expect to pay a price...ever. This is not the behavior of people who think you can jail them/vote them out of office.

     They'll escalate the crimes to make that true.
