@nilsskirnir @GutterPoetry @Remittancegirl @murdoc @Profpatsch @DarkAthena @johnnyprofane1 @bmacDonald94 @actuallyautistic @actuallyadhd It's the same as the "increase" in left-handedness. https://slowrevealgraphs.com/2021/11/08/rate-of-left-handedness-in-the-us-stigma-society/ When public education began and more kids learned to write, their dominant hand became apparent in a way that it wasn't before ... and then was quickly suppressed. People were literally beaten for writing with their left hands. The increase is in acceptance, not incidence.

@callisto @nilsskirnir @GutterPoetry @Remittancegirl @murdoc @Profpatsch @DarkAthena @johnnyprofane1 @bmacDonald94 @actuallyautistic @actuallyadhd I can definitely comment on that one. Catholic schools in the 1970s were very worried about me being left handed (I won't joke here about it being a sign of satanic possesion but a very young me was definitely frightened out of using my left hand). So I should be left handed, but was forced not to be.
