   @theorytoe@ak.kyaruc.moe This is not the average developer because if you don't know the absolute basics of using a version control system you are not a developer and you should not count towards the "average developer" count.

     @phnt@fluffytail.org @theorytoe@ak.kyaruc.moe So? Even if you use git from a flawed vscode gui you're still using version control and you have some elementary level understanding of how it works. There is at least some intelligence here.
     
     This is already a completely different skill level of knowledge compared to the average "Cursor AI Developer" who doesn't shit about anything and just does absolutely nothing but write braindead prompts all day.

     @SuperDicq @theorytoe You would be surprised how many modern zoomie developers work. Chrome is their OS and the flawed GUI around git in VSCode is what they think "git" is. Bonus points if they use Github Desktop for downloading and managing repos. If you don't work in a sweatshop full of these people, that's very good news for you. But considering you work with PHP, I don't think that you will see this mainly JS webdev brainrot for a few more years.
     
     However this is the sad reality of many "programmers" with CS uni degrees.
