     @davidaugust People have forgotten that, when everyone conspires to secretly break the law, everyone is guilty. There have been no consequences for the rich and powerful for so long they think there can be no consequences.

     Or, to use a different rhetorical approach: do you want a Reign of Terror? Because this is how you get a Reign of Terror.
