There is a certain type of people who see religion as a means to get closer to God, to salvation; they understand this requires work on the self, with others more advanced on this journey being able to offer help and guidance; all on a mutually voluntary basis, from human to human in the footsteps of the Divine. — This is the Spirit of Orthodoxy
Then there is a type of people who understand religion as divine authority given to a privileged few, to control and punish people, depending to what degree they disobeyed or failed 'the rules.' Here there is no onus on a personal journey shared with other travelers, but on inherent guilt, endless debt, and an angry god. — The Spirit of Man-made Religions
