   @ada weird part being the guy invented it because nobody else would, and supposedly promised to open the patents if congress mandated safety mechanisms.
   
   wonder if they were lying or just playing the capitalism game (while apparently advocating for the rules to be changed)

     saw stop patents expired in 2021 and since 2022 we've seen a gigantic boom in different saw stopping mechanisms many of which don't destroy the blade or require contact with your hand (in some cases, both) to turn off.
     
     saw stop sued the living shit out of competitors with that patent.
     
     anyway this is your reminder that patents do not encourage innovation they stifle it.
