@janl while there is a way to disable it, the fact that this is a default
*and* you can’t make it go away without also first signing into the editor with github (something they’ve obstinately ignored requests to remove the affordance on every GUI window for)
*and* they display it even when you’re not signed in and therefore fixing it requires multiple steps
*and* they worsened the default autocomplete sort in the new version
not a good look
It’s a shame, it’s a decent editor with a lot of potential, but they’ve told us who they are, and I believe them.

@janl lol
this is the editor’s keymap file, I think it’s more of a namespace separator

@mattly heh, I’m just here marvelling at making :: a word separator there. It makes no sense.

@mattly no I mean for the purpose of matching the autocomplete. It should only show entries with the error:: prefix.

so I ran into some issues trying to create a language pack for Zed because the fennel language server isn’t hosted or even mirrored on github, and I was the first person to try contributing an extension whose repository wasn’t on github either
I think I’m also going to be the first person to have deleted their extension’s repository

one of my former managers called me a “forcing function” for product design
most of that is just figuring out for which parts of some abstract design the details really matter and forcing iteration and decision-making on those
but some of it is probably personality and an unwillingness to just play along

the forcing function forces, and perhaps one shouldn't construct a plugin ecosystem around git submodules: https://github.com/zed-industries/extensions/pull/2075

@mattly Some people, when faced with a software distribution problem, think "I know! I'll use git!"
And now they have made this everybody's problem
