      While American society is especially good among wealthy countries at producing poverty, it is especially bad at making the lives of the poor tolerable.

      @ntnsndr I'm uncomfortable with the words in this article, but there's a passage in the New Testament (Act 4: 32-35) that says that the apostles gave everything but the essentials to live together. If that's what poverty is, then we're in the same boat. Chosen poverty (simplicity, frugality, collectivity?) is very different from subjected poverty.
