A 1st-2nd Century AD; 'Roman Rock Crystal Dice' (Tesserae), from Wroxeter, Shropshire, England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇬🇧

These dices often used to move pieces on a game board. Used alone they were generally for gambling, to provide a win with highest number.

According to Marcellinus, most members of upper classes did not wish to identify themselves as gamblers, instead preferring term "Dicer." Numerous Roman Emperors, such as Augustus and Claudius were known for playing dice.
