   I started reading about three different standards for allowing arbitrary key combinations in the terminal (https://invisible-island.net/xterm/modified-keys.html, http://www.leonerd.org.uk/hacks/fixterms/, some stuff by author of kitty) and what's really weird to me is a lot of the discourse seems really.. angry? it's hard to tell why

     trying to explain typing in the terminal is so weird, it's like "well when you press keys on your keyboard, we don't really have a consistent way to encode them and send them to your shell, like we kind of do but there's no single standard and it breaks a lot”

     ctrl-shift-a? not allowed, it's just ctrl-a
     alt-a? may or may not work
     backspace? _almost_ always works
     command-left arrow? no.

     (please do not reply to this with a lecture on terminal history or to explain what an "escape code" is to me)
