   It was rather a punch down on folks even publishing that article at a time like this. Even if the 8 tips for consent article was also linked. Devs have to read it and internalise what it means.

   Just because you technically can do the thing doesn't mean you should.

   I wish more folks in tech got the idea of opt in and designed for it.

     Many of the folks on here are currently facing the beginnings of facism.

     There's a balance of public posting because we do live in a world where folks need to appeal for mutual aid.

     They've been pushed off other networks.

     So yes, they'd like you to ask nicely, because not everyone wants to be discovered.

     It's interesting whenever I see criticism of push back on Devs who don't ask before repurposing other folks public posts.

     On the fediverse we do have an expectation of asking nicely first.

     So whenever I see criticism of pushback phrased as scolding. I'm always reminded of the scolds bridle.

     Because often the pushback does come from vulnerable folks. To reduce the issue and to try to discourage further pushback us to try to stifle future pushback. Don't do that.
