I'm sort of fascinated by mutual aid - partly I suppose because I'm terribly English about money generally, but primarily because I've seen people in years past on Twitter sort of jeer and boo at peoples requests and even doing a deep dive through that persons history to see if they've ever done something nice for themselves as a sort of 'gotcha' (which is an unbelievably shitty thing to do). One person in particular I won't mention because they've been a bit divisive, but I saw people comparing dates in a forensic way in a bid to try and 'catch them out', which is unhinged. Anyway my point is that on Fedi, I regularly see people request mutual aid in quite a reasonable way (sometimes we're up, sometimes we're down - I've been extremely well off, and I've been homeless without income so I totally get it), but what absolutely blows my mind is that people then show up and support them and so far I've not seen one person be a dick about it. It's sort of miraculous. However the point I'm making is that it's only really possible because of the communities that Fedi attracts..... and traps here forever unable to escape! - only joking - I just mean with the ebb and flow of this place, there is a particular kind of person who seems to end up staying - and those people are by and large supportive and non-judgemental. I don't really have any point to this. Just yet another example about how fundamentally cool the people are here.
TLDR - if I see you do a mutual aid request I will happily boost and support if I am flush. But just suppose wanted to say big love to those who continue to make Fedi a supportive and safe environment. YOU FUCKING ROCK. X
