@dch My Maytag (also respectable brand) clothes dryer broke. Repair person came out and couldn’t fix it because the electronic board that blew up (literally on fire) is no longer made and can’t be sourced. Such a waste!! I’m also angry about the throwaway culture that keeps growing.

@nancylwayne @dch This should be fixable with universal consumer-friendly boards designed to hook up to the sensors and actuators in a wide range of commercial appliances, that you can just configure (e.g. with jumpers) to the particulars of the model you have. This would make an awesome project for some solarpunk hackers.
