Local media outlets (and particularly the one known for training up future police spokespeople) shared flagrant & harmful corporate disinformation about “organized retail theft”, and very few of them ever corrected the record. Not only is this hugely fucking irritating, this dishonest “law and order” fearmongering also 100% contributed to the political climate which enabled the current fascist takeover of the US govt.
