   other day I was showing a student something on my machine and he got all quiet. I figured he was digesting the deep thoughts, then he says "so you really just use emacs all the time?"

     @regehr one of the engineers on my team once mentioned that he'd just discovered that vi is a text editor, not just a plugin for vscode, and I felt myself age at least 10 years in that moment
