   Eratosthenes founded geography when he hired a graduate student to measure the distance between Alexandria and Syene using the the Google Stadia console as a ruler (5000 stadia), which he then used to give the first recorded calculation of the circumference of the earth (252,000 stadia).

     @karna i've been reminded that stadia was a thing that supposedly existed (there's no confirmation because no one ever bought one)

     @Inginsub the ancient Greeks bought them all to measure lengths like I noted above. No other use was found for it though
