So I finally turned a recent popular post here into a proper story.

Teen on Musk’s DOGE Team Graduated from ‘The Com’

Wired reported this week that a 19-year-old working for Elon Musk‘s so-called Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) was given access to sensitive US government systems even though his past association with cybercrime communities should have precluded him from gaining the necessary security clearances to do so. As today’s story explores, the DOGE teen is a former denizen of ‘The Com,’ an archipelago of Discord and Telegram chat channels that function as a kind of distributed cybercriminal social network for facilitating instant collaboration.

Somehow, I missed this EO that Trump issued when he took office on Jan 20. It basically says security clearances are too much of a pain so we'll just go ahead and grant full clearances (TS/SCI) for six months to anyone the White House counsel and the acting CIO designate.

I think this pretty well explains how Mr. Big Balls got his clearance.

Therefore, by the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, I hereby order:

      1. The White House Counsel to provide the White House Security Office and Acting Chief Security Officer with a list of personnel that are hereby immediately granted interim Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearances for a period not to exceed six months; and

      2. That these individuals shall be immediately granted access to the facilities and technology necessary to perform the duties of the office to which they have been hired; and

      3. The White House Counsel, as my designee, may supplement this list as necessary; and

      4. The White House Counsel, as my designee, shall have the authority to revoke the interim clearance of any individual as necessary.

@briankrebs So just to recapitulate: Trump's presider Musk brought his teen hackers, who are much smarter than he's & capable of cracking government data systems, to steal government officers' & employees' data to acquire extortion material/kompromat to force unwanted representatives of federal government out of employment, to a) obstruct justice & b) obstruct the enforcement of regulations Elon hates, and c) obstruct U.S. government per se as an obstacle to lawless oligarchic tyranny? 🤔😎
