   Over 200 million women worldwide, including at least 600,000 in Europe, have undergone female genital mutilation.

   The EU supports our partner countries and the United Nations in efforts to eliminate this heinous form of violence.

   On International Day of Zero Tolerance for FGM, let’s be clear: FGM must be universally condemned, and eradicated.

   We condemn and are committed to eradicating the practice, promoting zero tolerance with our global partners.

   Female genital mutilation must end now.
