     Also use chatmail servers for proper push notifications. It's not really worth it to try to use it with your normal email account unless you absolutely need to

     If you deploy a chatmail server using their special configuration it will never allow unencrypted messages to be sent out, push notifications work, and account signups are instant / permissionless. Logs scrubbed, data automatically purged server side after X days, idle accounts deleted every Y days, etc. super nice.

     also the chatmail bundle i think uses dovecot which is also what i use and that supports imap push etc.
     
     there is another server that also supports jmap but i don't use it

     @icedquinn @joe IMAP push is not what I'm meaning. They have custom lua scripts and python services to handle things. It sends notifications through their push server then through Google/Apple servers.
