As the world’s largest exporter of high-quality oats, Canada produces an average of nearly four million tonnes of oats every year. Nearly half of Canada’s oats, on average, are produced in Saskatchewan.
Over the last five years, the US has been the largest oat importer, accounting for 56% of the world’s oat imports. About 83% of Canadian oat exports are shipped to the US, representing a market share of 97%.
