   I'm reading #RadiumGirls by Kate Moore. If you've never heard this part of 20th century history, I suggest studying up. These women are a big reason we have worker protections in the USA today -- protections which President Felon's administration is rolling back one by one. Who will become the "Radium Girls" of the 21st century?

   Notably, it wasn't just Radium that tortured and killed these women. Capitalism and misogyny were complicit. Authorities didn't really start paying attention until

     I just finished reading #RadiumGirls by Kate Moore. Highly recommend to *all*.

     The whole book has a lot to teach all of us about human nature, capitalism, misogyny, politics, government, history, & medical science. But one specific at the end of the book caught my attention: the dial-painters' lives & deaths led directly to the creation of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration ( #OSHA).

     These women's involuntary sacrifices are the reason today's industrial safety standards exist.
