   I'm really not shocked about Chinese censorship, and it's really no worse than any other state.

   The problem is statism and not the specific state doing it.

     Yes, yes, yes, the Chinese army crushed a protest at Tiananmen Square in 1989. I believe this to be a bad thing. Yes, they censor it like crazy.

     I'm just tired of seeing it used as a "gotcha", when in fact many Western governments have done similarly egregious things and then covered them up.

     For example, how the US government just murdered a continent-load of people to take their land, and how they teach the colonisation of America as a family friendly children's tale.
