@matthewfeickert No. I don't have any regrets. But I was definitely not expecting my desktop upgrade to get messed up because NetworkManager somehow got uninstalled, disabling all internet devices and breaking all remaining downloads. I had to put all the NM Debian packages on a thumb drive to get them installed and restore network connectivity.

@steve Thanks, that's good to know. I might still wait for some long stretch of vacation so that if I end up needing to do a clean install it won't be too disruptive. I've become slightly more reserved in my OS upgrade schedule since I was a grad student. :P
