     @jwz I think they've realized that their targets are people who will never notice that. At best, I'll wager they get <1% click-through, so there's little incentive to do extra work. ;)

     @jwz I read somewhere that a lot of these scammers are deliberately being unprofessional so that only the most ignorant will fall for their scam. More astute targets will cost them too much time & effort with the arguing.

     @PaulNickson I am extremely skeptical of any argument in any context along the lines of "the person who seems like an idiot is actually playing 4D chess", for obvious reasons.

     @jwz I think it shows that at this point we've forced everyone through the digital transition - including the ones that would be far better off just living offline. Instead they are the ones who get scammed with these tricks that are so blatantly obvious to the "digital natives".
