   Tomorrow I must whip some cream.

   Realised that I have nothing in the flat with which I can whip cream, not even a wooden spoon or a whisk.

   Hmm. I guess I'll ... buy something?? What's a fairly versatile and also affordable tool that will do the job without requiring much in the way of muscle or stamina?

   Would a stick mixer work?

     @lookitmychicken yep, a stick mixer should have a plastic attachment that'll work! I have the Morphy Richards set which has a bowl attachment too. Balloon whisk is the next best (cheap) option.

     okay I am going out to look for kitchen tools and anticipate returning with a hand-mixer, depending on what's available

     I purchased a hand mixer, I whipped cream, I made a chocolate ripple cake for tomorrow's 'share your culture' potluck lunch at work.

     Yes I am a basic Aussie and my family's most treasured dessert is indeed chocolate ripple cake.
