   The EU should demand that American Big Tech sell their assets to European companies. They can’t be trusted to not manipulate the data for propaganda reasons.

   Not doing so is a national security risk.

   Am I doing this right?

     @Migueldeicaza, don't most of them already have subsidiaries in e.g. Ireland and Luxembourg for tax reasons?

     @druid @vmachiel@mastodon.nl @Migueldeicaza can't speak for the US, but here in Romania there was (and still is) an active propaganda operation for a fascist candidate, Călin Georgescu, plus the boomer attempts at trying to capture TikTok users' political interest from the current parties that are all centre-right to right-wing, and the general anti-vax, alt-med, ultra-Orthodox garbage and slop.

     @Migueldeicaza not sure if you’re trying to be funny, but the propaganda on tik tok was on another level. Social media apps with algorithms shouldn’t exist in the first place, let alone those that actively try to undermine democracys.
