Elder Lesbians, were any lesbians or even women in general involved in the ball culture or gay scene in the 80s?

Was there ever any solidarity and camraderie between some gay/trans-identifed men and lesbians/"fag-hags" in the era etc...

I've seen snippets of "Paris is Burning" and am now lookin to "Pose," a contemporary show set in 80s ball culture. At least in Paris is Burnimg, some of the men pass exceptionally well, which is even more admirable when considering the many surgery options weren't available at the time, or at least bot ubiquitous.

I guess I understand that sex matters, etc... and I know gay men can be incredibly misogynistic, and i even know that the FBI said ay some point half of them were NPD (a cluster B) regardless of sexual orientation, but I just can't help having difficulty reconciling my hard-line stances with, i don't know, the desire for so.e way people could just all get along and it was okay to be fabulous.

I get why men can't be in women's spaces, and I get that they don't really care about us the way we care about them (it'd not reciprocal) but I still feel for them. Anyhow, anyone with info on problems in the culture of the 80s, or women's participation, or whatever... I'm listening.
