   Andy Yen, founder and CEO of ProtonMail has decided to post on Reddit with the username andy1011000 [1]. 1011000 being the binary representation of the decimal number 88, a well-known dog whistle towards the far-right [2].

     I now how these weird mistakes can happen. A few years ago I thought it must be almost 20 years since I moved to Munich, so maybe have a party? And then I checked the date I registered myself here. Oops. 20th of April. Hitlers Birthday. So no Party :)

     @jwildeboer I guess it's probably different in Germany, but I think most people here would assume a 4/20 party is celebrating cannabis rather than Nazism 😅

     @9x0rg Yes, could very well be. But after his recent posts indicating support for Trump, it could also be interpreted as something else. I hope he will just change his username to something less dubious.

     As a Taiwan born Chinese, Andy just added _88_ to his handle as a symbol of good fortune as thousands (millions perhaps) do in Asia.
